CRIMEHOT is a free simulation game that was created by an independent developer named Alec Robbins. It is described as a unique book-reading simulator that provides players a more interactive and immersive experience. It can be thought of as a mix of a point-and-click adventure combined with the storytelling of a visual novel.
Similar to Muv-Luv Alternative or Vincent: The Secret of Myers, CRIMEHOT also employs sci-fi elements to tell its story. The game's aesthetic design is also quite different and will definitely stand out when players first start out with it.
How do I play it?
CRIMEHOT has a unique and distinct presentation. The game's backdrop has a Tron-like grid that is a recurring theme throughout the game. The soundtrack is quite a banger, too, utilizing drum and bass beats that are actually reminiscent of the Persona game series. It tells the story of the adventures of a couple of "hot thieves" living in a future where humanity is being guided by an all-knowing Algorithm.
It presents a comic book reader to let you experience the adventures of its proclaimed greatest thief to have ever lived, Haze. Once opened, you can start reading and turning its pages using your mouse. You can also zoom in on the text and images for better visibility. Below, you get a page indicator, while you get page, view, and volume control options to the right.
Lastly, you can change the level design and background using the icons on the lower-right corner of the window. You even get to turn on a gun mode that lets you shoot at various objects on the screen. One thing to note, though, is that the story is still ongoing and more is being written and developed for the game, which will come with future updates.
A unique and fun reading experience
Overall, CRIMEHOT is a fun and unique comic book reading experience wrapped inside an interactive point-and-click play style. The reader was cleverly designed and the story itself was an interesting read. Not to mention, the awesome soundtrack that goes along with it. This is a game that should be played to be appreciated.
